Magic Beans by GlendonMellow Magic Beans by GlendonMellow
ArtRage Studio Pro, 2011. Glendon Mellow

In the spirit of animal and plant studies by early naturalists, here we see watercolour depictions and field notes about the wild magic bean plant, complete with the pollinating-gnome.

Originally seen on the Scientific American blog Symbiartic and on my blog The Flying Trilobite . The idea is a send-up of scientific illustrators who do work for pseudoscientific or New Age clients.

LOL, brilliant Glendon! Love the gnome!! He looks like Darwin, who discovered that bee's pollinate plants! he's a little Darwin Gnome!

Thanks Lucy! I think Karyn Traphagen (@ktraphagen) made a model of him. But somehow I didn't see him at ScienceOnline. Perhaps he hibernates.

Pseudoscience. LOL. Still, there IS something to be said about the power of imagination, willpower, love, and hope. Too bad all too often it turns into "crystal bitching" of one sort or another.

And, is the above really that big of an issue? People earn a buck however they can, and I guess pseudoscientific publications sell better...>.>

Thanks! I love the watercolours in ArtRage 3.5. Made the rainbow easy.
